Boo Boo and his brother, Yogi, are more cuddly than a couple of teddy bears. Boo Boo is a chubby boy who is very affectionate. He makes friends easily and climbs into any open lap for lots of snuggles. For this happy pooch, every day with you is a picnic, and he wags his tail cheerfully to show how much he enjoys your company. Boo has lost his teeth, so his tongue sticks out like a cute cartoon character. Because of his tiny size, we don't recommend him with young children or dogs larger than his size. Since he has spent his whole life with Yogi, we would like for them to be adopted together. (Click here to see Yogi: Yogi.) Boo Boo is the sweetest little buddy, and he'd love to be yours forever.

Color: Brown and white
Size: Approx. 50 lbs.
Status: Available with foster
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: No
Good With Dogs: Some

Finding a great buddy dog or family dog can be as easy as meeting Carlos. Our good-time boy is very affectionate and friendly, so everyone immediately likes him. Carlos learns very quickly because he's smart and eager to please. In fact, he's already housetrained, crate-trained, and pretty good on a leash. Carlos likes to have fun, too, and loves to play ball. He does have a funny walk that came about in a most unfunny way, though. Sometime in his past, he was shot with buckshot and his whole backend is still loaded with it. The buckshot apparently tore muscles that healed imperfectly and left him with one leg slightly shorter and an uneven gait. There's no reason to remove the buckshot, and all the healing is done and set. Carlos has adjusted and has maintained his great love and affection for people. He's just a great dog that enjoys being with his people and gives his complete loyalty and love. What more could you want in a friend for life? For more information about Carlos, please contact his foster at clflorian@gmail.com.

He has made a great deal of improvement in this area, but he does need more work on it. Because of this behavior, his new home should not include children. He starts with play bows, progresses to nudging your feet, rolls on his side, and then bounces from side-to-side. That's your cue to join in! Dixon is a very outgoing and exuberant dog, and he loves to share his happy energy with a person. He's extra friendly (it's good for team building) and enthusiastic (it's good for team spirit). Duke

Breed: Beagle
Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 3 years
Color: Tricolor with ticking
Size: Approx. 30 lbs.
Status: Available
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

We know that this cute beagle's name is Duke because he told us. Well, it was written on his left hind leg so that's kind of like him telling us. From that, we can guess that he was a hunting dog. (Sometimes they just get numbers painted on them, but this boy got an actual name.) We can also guess that he wasn't the best hunting dog because he ended up at county shelter. He's a very sweet boy, but he's shy. Duke probably isn't used to getting a lot of individual attention or a cozy life, so he's not sure what to make of it. With his affable nature, Duke has all the makings of a great family dog. Duke would love to be yours and have you write his name in your heart forever.

Ellen

Thank You In memory of Moxy and Ellie (a former LDCRF dog) for becoming the Pal for Paws Sponsor of Ellen

Breed: Spitz mix
Sex: Female
Age: Approx. 7 years
Color: White
Size: Approx. 55 lbs.
Status: Available with foster
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Ellen has all the attributes for a dog that can quickly fit into a someone's life. Our plump girl is laid-back and enjoys loafing a good part of the day. She does like to get up and go some, too. She likes to go for a nice walk and is good on a leash. (Maybe she can stroll a few pounds off, too!) Ellen also rides very well in a car: She just stays put and watches the world roll by. This good girl is housetrained already, too. Ellen gets along with other dogs but doesn't want to share her space or food with them. She probably would be best suited for a quieter home without young children. Would you like a dog that likes to relax some, get out some, and give her heart completely? Ellen could be the girl for you. For more information about Ellen, please contact her foster at rewizard@comcast.net.
To meet Ellen at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Ellen doesn't need a plan, but she does need a home. Do you have one for this excellent hound?

This happy go lucky boy loves everyone he meets and is mainly concerned about whether or not there will be a toy or a friendly wrestling match involved in the relationship. Evan is big and doesn't realize how strong he is, so he might be too much for small children, but only because of his enthusiasm. Evan needs a home with a fenced yard and an active human to help him burn off his energy. A canine companion of a similar size would be a big bonus for Evan.

Be prepared to move over and give her some space to cuddle next to you on the sofa! She might show a stubborn streak on occasion but a bit of etiquette training should make this girl a fantastic companion for many years to come. His former owner took him to a county shelter because he couldn't keep him chained. That's no life for a dog, and Gibson is ready to settle in for a long haul of comfort. Everybody feels sorry to see an older dog without a home. It's dismaying to see one that's still saggy from having puppies--either recently or maybe just too often. Add on that the dog has wobbly back legs. It's enough to make you cry smile! Yes, it's true: Gina is a happy dog and a joy to be around. This sweetheart is a very affectionate dog and loves to be near you and have lots petting. She's housetrained, letting you know when she wants to go out, and she can be trusted to freely roam in a house. She easily jumps up on the couch to nestle next to you. Gina is still a playful pooch and enjoys going on beagle walks--walk some, sniff a lot, walk more, sniff a lot more. She knows how to relax, too, and sleeps in complete ease on her back. Whatever her past, Gina doesn't see herself as a sad story. She's too good-hearted to be anything but upbeat. Adopt Gina, and enjoy a terrific forever starting now. For more information about Gina, please contact five.slyones@verizon.net.

Sex: Male
Age: Approx. 8 years
Color: Black
Size: Approx. 45 lbs.
Status: AVAILABLE - Crosspost
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Jacob is not an LDCRF dog. Please see the contact information below to find out more about adopting Jacob. You could say that Jacob started life as a tar heel since he found in a North Carolina parking lot. Things could have been bleak for him, but his life became brighter than a Carolina blue sky. A family took him in, and he grew into a cute, amazingly sweet boy. Jacob just loves to be with people and cuddle. He's an attentive, low-maintenance companion who gives many kisses and loves belly rubs. Jacob is completely housetrained and can be trusted to freely roam in the house. (He will go nicely in a crate and lie quietly, but he doesn't require crating at all.) Jacob is obedient and knows the commands of "sit" and "go on." "Go on" is verbal cue to him to stop whatever he's doing and, well, "go on." This goofy-happy dog is good on a leash and likes to go for nice walks. While he enjoys his walks, he's laid-back enough that he doesn't have to have one every day. Jacob also loves to play and is a good buddy for other dogs. He likes cats, too, and wants to play with them as well. Jacob has been with a loving family since that day he was found, but now he must find a new home without young children. He willingly and easily releases anything to adults, but he can be protective of his things with kids. (His new family should not include children younger than ten.) It could be that he's your perfect pet. Can Jacob find a home with you soon? For more information about Jacob, please contact shannon@neimandcollaborative.com.

Jenny, Josh and Jill are so loving they just turn into a pile of mush when they get a little human affection. They wiggle, waggle and compete for the best lap space. All of them are a little stymied by that thing called a leash, but they are willing to learn and will do anything for attention. When comfortable, these pups are extremely playful and thoroughly enjoy the company of other dogs. Homes with fenced yards will be a must for these active young dogs and they would probably do best with experienced dog owners. Border collies are incredibly smart and pit bulls are tenacious, so the humans must be on their toes!

SHE’S MOVE IN READY and ready for a place to call home! When her family could no longer care for her, they took her to the shelter where one of our volunteers spotted her in a kennel behind some rowdy, little puppies, trying/hoping to be noticed. We couldn’t ignore that sweet, desperate look in her eyes, and the rest is history. Oh, and don’t let that gray muzzle fool you – it’s probably not a sign of old age. She’s got the same coloring on other parts of her body, so we believe she was born with that “seasoned” look. Jocelyn is the perfect girl for an individual or family who’s looking for a pal that’s housebroken, sweet, gentle and quite the little lady. She’s been a perfect houseguest in her foster home. She’d even make a wonderful companion for another dog. Although she appears to be overweight, the vet believes she has lost weight and much of what you see is excess skin. Jocelyn is a happy girl who really looks forward to her jaunts outside, getting her belly tickled and being brushed (she’s a low shedder). She’s also quite content and settles in nicely inside just knowing that when she wakes up, you’ll still be there. She hopes that’s not asking too much.

Kincaid is a handsome and sweet dog, but he's a bit shy at first. Once he spends a little time with you, he warms up and is very affectionate. Kincaid likes to know he's accepted and loved, and he leans contentedly against your legs. He soon becomes your snuggle buddy. This good boy is already housetrained, too. Kincaid takes an inexpensive medication to keep him from having seizures. The medication has been very successful, and he leads a normal life now. Of course, a loving family and cozy home is what he needs the most. Are you the one to let Kincaid enjoy life a great life forever? Usually a king's arrival is announced with fanfare and a reading of his name and titles. Well, King came to us from a county shelter with his name written on his left hind leg. It's not quite the same, but maybe it's close enough. King probably was a hunting dog, which often have a name, initial, or number painted on them. That life evidently didn't suit him, and now he's looking for a new one. King does have his protocol a little mixed up: He keeps bowing his head in submission. King is a shy dog that just needs to have soft words and touches to open up. With his sweet nature, he's sure to be a grateful and loving pet. King isn't looking for a castle and court--just a real home and a real family.
To meet King at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Thank You Carol Sharp for becoming the Pal for Paws Sponsor of Lolita

Breed: Terrier Mix
Sex: Female
Age: Approx. 1 year
Color: Red and White
Size: Approx. 12 pounds
Status: Available
Good With Kids: Older Children
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined
Good With Dogs: Yes

Lolita is a head-turner with her chestnut red hair, perfectly pointed ears and striking resemblance to a beautiful fox. She is a beauty and she knows it, carrying herself with grace and dignity (no slobbery tennis balls in this girls' future). Like so many beautiful women, Lolita is a little bit shy and needs a little time to warm up and trust people. She will happily snuggle on the lap of someone she is comfortable with and likes to be near other dogs too, but her new home should not include small children-she just isn't ready for the commotion. Can you give Lolita a quiet, loving home?
To meet Lolita at an adoption event, please e-mail dogs@lostdogrescue.org or call (703)295-DOGS.

Color: Blue tick
Size: Approx. 55 lbs.
Status: Available - With Foster
Good With Kids: Yes
Good With Cats: Not Yet Determined

Given her name, it's not surprising that Lulu is a hoot. This girl is extra friendly and simply loves everyone she meets. She wags her tail in a state of constant glee and gives great big dog smiles. You gotta love this happy hound! Lulu's sweet face really does reflect her good nature, and, being Lulu, she adds her own unique touch--a cute crease in the center of her nose. Lulu has been treated for heartworm and must remain relatively inactive (no running) until November 10. The first step to finding a dog of your dreams is to meet her. Maybe it'll be Lulu.
